Rail-Car Moving Cancelled for Now

I am very sorry to say that the historic rail cars in St. Johns will not be moved this weekend as planned. There is a last-minute discrepancy regarding property lines in the area of the Depot. Since nobody wants to move the cars more than once, all is on hold until the property lines are officially determined.

Stay tuned...

Wow, time has flown by.

The snow has fallen along with the temperature and the many hands have become idle. Snow has covered the cars, the walk way into the depot, while removed is not filled with foot prints. The HO Layout sits quiet but all things have been kept under a watch full eye.

The CIS trail is now finished and waits for the snow to melt and the grand opening to be held. One can see the foot prints of occasional walkers, few though.

The RR team will soon meet and begin planning a schedule of tasks and a more active recruiting of volunteers (HINT HINT).

Bringing Home an Undercarriage for the Sault Ste. Marie

With the prospect of acquiring key pieces to an undercarriage needed for the Sault Ste. Marie, Jenny and Gary McCampbell, along with Mark and Dan Kalis took about a 7-hour trip from the Lansing area to Mid-Continent Railway (MCR) in center-west Wisconsin on January 19-21.

MCR had what was needed from a car they had scrapped: two 110 year-old steel bolsters, 10 x 15 feet, to go under each end of the railcar. These included 2 crossbars per bolster.
